sprinklers

thank God for sprinklers

the humidity was already crazy at 630 this morning when i went out to do my long run

seven miles

in my warmup i met an old pro, trotting down metropolitan

he says to me, 'how long are you going?' 'seven miles' 'how far along are you?' 'just started'

'good for you!' he says

good for me. oy. if only i had known.

i have this formula to achieve a good run. i lay out my clothes the night before. i wear my good socks. i lace my shoelaces with the reef knot so they don't come undone. i don't start out too hard or too fast. i hum my pace song. i smile on the downhills (that's for my Vegan girl who's out running a half marathon as i type this).

but mostly, i tell myself that i just have to finish.

this run was almost as bad as the six miles i did two weeks ago. slow and hard and too hot outside. will i have to get up at 5 just to avoid the humidity?

feel disgusting. getting in the shower. but at least i finished.
